Say it now, face to face
Yesterday on my way to the gym I saw a rainbow. Not the first time I have seen a rainbow of course, but somehow I felt inspired to take a picture of it. Five to be exact. Growing up people used to say that there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I remember when I was about 9 I actually found the end of the rainbow, but no pot of gold. I thought this must be the beginning of the rainbow.
At about the same time I was being enamored with the rainbow, a great childhood friend of mine was about to have his last day on earth. He later died that morning from a heart attack at age 50. This morning I received the news and I wept. Every time I went to America I had planned on seeing him physically since we had such great conversations on facebook, but something always came up and it was always me that cancelled. We knew what was going on in each other’s lives and kept each other up to date. And now, he is gone and my heart aches greatly. I remember so many things about him. Unfortunately, I also remember not going by or even contacting him when I was in Lenoir.
I then starting thinking about my friends closer by, here in Holland. I implore you all to not only contact your friends and family, but go by and see them and tell them what they mean to you. Go to your parents, your brothers , sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, whomever if you are blessed enough to have them, and tell them what they mean to you.
I don’t want to feel like this again, so get ready friends and family far and near, the Ben tour is coming to your town. I am at the beginning of the rainbow, and seeing you will be the pot of gold at the end.
P.s. By the way, I love you all, and hope to see you soon!
